This is why the two setups should not be treated as identical.

When configuring CRM integration, Meta may ask you to:

This is effectively the Meta-side destination where the CRM events are received and associated with your measurement setup.
Older documentation and account interfaces may still refer heavily to the Pixel.

Meta does not simply receive one CRM event and assume the integration is perfect.
The CRM onboarding process includes an event-validation period.
Your Meta setup interface may show progress indicating that valid CRM events have started arriving and that Meta will continue validating the integration over several days.
During this phase, check Events Manager for:

That identifier should be preserved when the record enters your CRM.

This allows later CRM-stage events to be matched more reliably with the original Meta lead.
If you use Zapier, Make or another integration layer, make sure that identifier is not discarded during the transfer.

Website conversions have different attribution requirements.
A website lead might make use of identifiers such as:

IP/User-Agent data where appropriate
This is one reason website Funnel Events and Instant Form Lead Events should not be treated as interchangeable.
HighLevel’s current documentation specifically notes that pipeline-stage changes can be sent as Funnel Events when valid website attribution such as FBCLID has been captured and stored.
So there can be overlap.
The key is to use the right event architecture for the original customer journey.
How Much Conversion Volume Do You Need?
This is another area where advertisers often get confused:
